Burkina Faso strengthens its partnership with the International Monetary Fund

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and a Burkinabe delegation, composed of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister Delegate in charge of the budget, had a working session this Monday in New York, to carry out a rapid review of their cooperation.This meeting provided an opportunity to review cooperation between Burkina Faso and the IMF, while opening up prospects for strengthening this partnership.The Burkinabe delegation also stressed the need for additional financing to address current challenges, while ensuring that reforms are underway to consolidate the results obtained.'We have been able to maintain financial discipline and contain inflation despite the challenges, which shows that we are resilient and capable of implementing effective public policies,' said Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré.According to the head of diplomacy Karamoko, despite the context of the fight against terrorism, Burkina Faso has achieved economic perform ances, marked by the control of inflation and rigorous management of public expenditure.The member of the IMF board of directors, Régis N'sonde, affirmed that Burkina Faso's performances are very satisfactory especially in view of the difficult circumstances in terms of security.He also announced that an IMF mission will soon visit Ouagadougou to continue the partnership.Régis N'sonde also indicated that the IMF will advocate on behalf of Burkina Faso and the Sahel with international partners.Source: Burkina Information Agency
