The new basketball court at Joseph-Ki-Zerbo University in Ouagadougou (UJKZ) was inaugurated yesterday, Tuesday, by Dr. Bernard Zouma, representing the president of this temple of knowledge, noted AIB."This new basketball court, a symbol of our shared ambition to provide our youth with infrastructure that meets their aspirations, is the result of a significant partnership between IAM Gold, through its subsidiary Essakane SA, Giants of Africa and Joseph Ki-Zerbo University," said Dr Bernard Zouma.The representative of the UJKZ President, Dr Zouma, indicated that the new jewel will be a space conducive to the development, training and cultivation of the values ??of discipline, respect and self-improvement.Zouma, also vice-president of teaching and educational innovations at the University, spoke on Tuesday in Ouagadougou, during the official inauguration ceremony of the new multi-sports ground of the temple of knowledge."We warmly thank IAM Gold and Giants of Africa for their generosity and their commi tment to the development of young people in Burkina Faso through sport," he said.The Vice President of Teaching and Educational Innovations of UJKZ, urged all students and athletes to take full advantage of the new sports infrastructure and cultivate the spirit of fraternity which makes the wealth of the university community.The spokesperson for the financial partners, senior coach of Giants of Africa, Joe Touomou, specified that their structures work for the development of student youth through sport.Touomou also noted that the two companies will spare no effort to support the Burkinabe government in its quest for the well-being of the population.He explained that his structure has built many basketball courts for the benefit of young people in Africa and Burkina Faso, particularly in the city of Ouagadougou and other localities in the country.The president of the University Club of Ouagadougou (UCO), Pr Sié Kam, added for his part that beyond a playing field, the sports facility remains a space fo r meeting, solidarity and sharing experiences for the development of Burkina."I invite you to make good use of it and use it to become winners in order to raise our national colours high," pleaded Pr Kam.The work on this new field at UJKZ in Ouagadougou was carried out by Afrik et BTP Logistiques SARL, a rising star in the construction of multi-sport fields in Burkina Faso. This civic-minded company has, to its credit, the construction of several basketball fields in Ouagadougou and other cities in the country.It should be noted that this is the former site of the Arts and Communication Training and Research Unit (UFR/LAC) of Ouaga I, which has been rehabilitated, with a view to enabling students to promote mass sports.Source: Burkina Information Agency
