Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Security convened its annual sectoral review in Ouagadougou, collaborating with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and development associations to assess the execution of investment programs for the year 2024.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session was led by Commander Ahmed Ou©draogo, the Secretary General of the Ministry, who represented the Minister of Security. The event underlined the significance of strengthening partnerships between the State and entities involved in security efforts. Commander Ou©draogo emphasized the importance of reviewing progress, compiling reports from NGOs, and making recommendations for future actions.
He highlighted that this review facilitates effective monitoring and evaluation of NGO activities, ensuring better alignment in program implementation. As of January 31, 2024, over ten NGOs and associations were identified as active in the security sector, though only six submitted their annual reports, which were crucial for compiling the consolidated report.
Commander Ou©draogo noted the satisfactory outcomes despite the incomplete submissions, with a 78% physical execution rate, a 113% financial execution rate, and an absorption rate of 100%. He appreciated the commitment shown by the partner organizations.
Lassana Bargo, the Director General of Sector Studies and Statistics, highlighted the role of these NGOs in not only enhancing security in facilities and urban areas but also improving the well-being of communities through their joint efforts. The Ministry plans to encourage partner organizations to meet reporting deadlines to ensure comprehensive data collection for evaluating their actions. The meeting also served as a platform to explore new ways to enhance the effectiveness of ground interventions.
