The President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, Dr. Ousmane Bougouma, launched Tuesday in Ouagadougou, the Thomas Sankara Special Prize for Creativity, with a budget of 3 million FCFA, intended to reward an African artistic work of exceptional quality."I have the honour of officially launching the Thomas Sankara Special Prize for Creativity. This prize is intended to reward an African artistic work for its exceptional quality," said Dr Ousmane Bougouma, President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly.Dr Bougouma spoke on Tuesday in Ouagadougou, at the headquarters of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO).The Thomas Sankara Special Prize for Creativity is a distinction established by the Transitional Legislative Assembly.It is in addition to three other special prizes awarded by parliament, with a cumulative value of 3 million 250 thousand FCFA, to reward the stands of the different regions.For Dr Bougouma, the Thomas Sankara Special Prize recalls that it was under the enlight ened leadership of President Sankara that the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair was initiated.In November 1984, President Thomas Sankara launched the first exhibition and sale of craft products in Ouagadougou, called "Artisanat 84". The success of this event led to the first edition of the SIAO in February 1988.The President of the Assembly clarified that an independent and professional jury is responsible for identifying the best work in the creativity pavilion, which will receive the Thomas Sankara Special Prize for Creativity."This prize is a call for more creativity and ingenuity for a competitive Africa," he concluded.Source: Burkina Information Agency
