Burkina: Signing of an Aide-M©moire Between Education Stakeholders to Improve the Level of Education

Ouagadougou: Stakeholders in the education system signed a memorandum on Thursday, which is a summary document of the activities of the strategic plan for the development of basic and secondary education (PSDEBS) aimed at improving the quality of education. The government, technical and financial partners, and civil society organizations signed an aide-m©moire on Thursday, May 22, 2025, aimed at improving the quality of education in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the content of the document consists of the work of the technical and financial assessment of activities and financing for 2024, recommendations for efficient implementation of the PSDEBS during the year 2025, and the identification of a priority theme for reflection for the thematic groups.

For the Minister in charge of Basic Education, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, the signing of the aide-m©moire establishes the broad outlines and points of consensus of all education stakeholders for the year 2025 so that efforts can be combined to further improve the indicators of the Burkinabe education system. Mr. Dingara explained that the results of the implementation of the PSDEBS in 2024 are quite positive with a financial execution rate of 91.39% for a physical execution rate of 84.72%.

"In 2024, more than 1,900 educational facilities were reopened in the recaptured areas, allowing the resettlement of more than 432,390 students," the minister said. The representative of the head of technical and financial partners (PTF), James Mugaju, encouraged the Burkinabe government to continue its efforts to provide quality education for children.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the TFPs to support the State in its efforts to achieve national education objectives. James Mugaju also appreciated the signing of this aide-m©moire which will strengthen the desire to improve, to seek effectiveness and efficiency in the transformation of resources into results for children.

The representative of civil society organizations, Aminata Hien/Fofana, said she was satisfied with everything that was recorded in the aide-m©moire. She acknowledged that many challenges remain in the field of education in Burkina Faso.
