A network of 10 alleged traffickers of explosive products, narcotics and stolen devices was dismantled in Ouagadougou by the gendarmerie, indicated Wednesday, the economic and financial unit of the research section of the 3rd Legion of the national gendarmerie during a press briefing."The facts constitute the offences of serious banditry, criminal association, illegal possession of weapons and munitions of war, importation and sale of explosive substances, sale of narcotics," said Lieutenant Justin Bagré.This network was dismantled following investigations after one of its members fell in front of an authority's yard with an automatic pistol equipped with war ammunition and a bag containing explosives.Realizing that the security elements had seen the suspicious objects in his possession, he tried to escape but was quickly caught by the said agents after a chase.This arrest made it possible to trace all the members of the network, Mr. Bagré maintained.They had in their possession an automatic pistol , two magazines loaded with 20 rounds of 9.19 millimeter ammunition, 06 rounds of 7.65 millimeter ammunition, 3 motorcycles and 150 grams of cannabis.Also, the suspects had in their possession "a bag containing 352 explosive charges, 618 detonators, a roll of blue and red detonating cord of 300 and 50 meters respectively," Mr. Bagré informed the press.These explosive components are estimated at around 4,000,000 FCFA, said Commander Justin Bagré.According to him, the searches allowed the criminals to seize three 30-litre cans of sulphuric acid, a bag of cyanide, ten motorcycle batteries and twenty boxes of pneumatic products.The alleged perpetrators, aged between 19 and 31, were operating in the city of Ouagadougou.Source: Burkina Information Agency
