Manga: The chief of staff of the President of Faso, Captain Martha C©leste Anderson Dekomwin Medah, expressed concerns over the delay in the construction of a 500-seat amphitheater at the Manga University Center during his visit to the site on Friday, urging the company "EURO Burkina" to increase their commitment to the project.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the construction company EURO Burkina, responsible for the project, reported that the completion rate stands at 20% despite consuming 70% of the allocated time. They cited issues such as the nature of the soil and procedural delays for the slow progress. However, Captain Anderson Medah found these explanations insufficient to justify the lag in work.
Captain Anderson Medah criticized the company for its lack of progress, highlighting that the workforce is limited to only 40 permanent workers, and there is no lighting installed to facilitate round-the-clock work. He expressed his disappointment, noting, "There is great frustration because we arrived at a site that fell short of our expectations."
He emphasized the importance of the amphitheater project for the Nazinon region and the whole of Burkina Faso, urging all involved parties to take ownership and show greater interest in the project. He insisted on adhering to the contractual deadlines and called for quick rectification of the current shortcomings in the construction process.
To ensure accountability, Captain Anderson Medah announced plans to strengthen the monitoring system to guarantee that commitments made on site are honored. The Manga amphitheater, initially planned for completion by October 2025, will feature 500 seats, along with offices, staff rooms, and toilet blocks.
The amphitheater project is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ), which aims to enhance university infrastructure to improve conditions for students and teachers. The initiative includes the construction and equipping of 40 complexes across various regions of Burkina Faso over a five-year period.
