Barthélemy Kaboré dedicated, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the royal palace of Gourcy, his work entitled 'Critical study of the celebration of the Na-Puusem of Naaba Bãoogo de Gourcy', a book which looks back at the functions and stages of the Na-Puusem under the reign of the king of Gourcy.It is a 202-page book dedicated to the celebration of the Na-Puusem of Naaba Bãoogo of Gourcy, which was presented to the public on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Royal Palace of Gourcy. The dedication ceremony was under the patronage of His Majesty Naaba Kiiba Dima of Yatenga and the sponsorship of His Majesty Naaba Bãoogo, Chief of Gourcy.It was attended by local customary and religious notables, provincial administrative authorities, invited resource persons and a highly mobilized population.For the author of the book, Barthélemy Kaboré, a lecturer and researcher in the department of modern literature at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, the aim of this work is to promote and preserve endogenous traditional values .Na-Puusem is a customary festival that marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the traditional New Year, according to the author.He specifies that the oral production that surrounds him conveys values ??of courage, patriotism, dignity, solidarity and social cohesion, all things which, for him, are in phase with the current context marked by the fight against violent extremism."This book was born after 9 years of regular presence at the Na-Puusem de Gourcy," he said.Dr. Kaboré was accompanied by Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, who was responsible for the presentation of the book, the main points of which are devoted to the course of the Na-Puusem, presented in six points: the announcement of the date, the morning greetings in the royal court, the exit of the chief in the evening, the greetings after the exit, the speech of the chief, and his return which marks the end of the Na-Puusem ceremony.The book also makes special mention of songwriters, such as the singer Abzèta Ouédraogo and the eld erly Michel Kebré, whose voices occupy an important place in the process."From now on, concerning this important moment in the culture of Gourcy, we have a document that will allow us to transmit this ritual to future generations through the spirituality that emerges from it and which is shared with the region, Africa and the entire world," declared His Majesty Naaba Bãoogo.According to him, this initiative is part of the efforts made by intellectuals attached to the rehabilitation of traditional cultures.Before him, other notables congratulated the author for his work, which, according to them, "honors the tradition, customs and traditions of the region."The book was prefaced by Professor Albert Ouédraogo and the dedication took place on the sidelines of the Rakiré festival for peace and development, an activity which usually takes place on the eve of the Na-Puusem of Gourcy.Published by L'Harmattan, the book is available in the bookstores of the Joseph KI-ZERBO University, Mercurie and Diacfa, at a price of 10,000 FCFA.Source: Burkina Information Agency
