Ouahigouya: Preparations for the upcoming first Regional Agriculture, Environment and Livestock Fair (SRAEL) in Ouahigouya are reportedly progressing smoothly, as confirmed by the organizing committee's president, Issouf Traor©. This significant event in rural development is slated to take place from May 1 to 4, 2025, in the capital of the North region, Yatenga province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Issouf Traor© expressed confidence in the ongoing preparations for the fair, highlighting the efforts of a dedicated team committed to executing the planned program. The event is being organized in collaboration with the National Federation of Naam Groups, who will provide the necessary infrastructure and communication facilities for the exhibitions.
Traor© also mentioned that local residents, both in Ouagadougou and elsewhere, have shown positive support for the fair. The Association for Economic and Social Development of the Northern Region (ADES/Nord) has also endorsed the initiative, with its members committed to aiding the fair's organization and success.
The organizing committee is hopeful for active participation from local authorities and international guests, emphasizing the necessity of state and partner support in terms of financial, human, and technical resources. The Ministry of State for Agriculture has already agreed to sponsor the event, which the committee welcomed.
The fair aims to engage stakeholders in agriculture, livestock, and environmental sectors, as well as those involved in non-timber forest products processing. The goal is for participants to establish partnerships, achieve good returns on investments, and contribute to improving producers' living conditions and achieving food self-sufficiency.
