Ouagadougou: The Special Technical Commission for the Withdrawal of Driving Licenses conducted its inaugural fairground session for the year 2025 at Ouagadougou's East Station. The session addressed nine cases linked to fatal traffic accidents, resulting in the return of two licenses and the suspension of seven others, with suspension durations ranging from one to five months.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the two drivers who had their licenses reinstated were found not to be responsible for the accidents that resulted in fatalities. Conversely, the seven drivers whose licenses were suspended had been deemed responsible, although the Commission decided on suspended suspensions, coupled with strict recommendations for improvement.
The session was inaugurated by Sibidi Vincent Tougri, Director General of Land and Maritime Transport, who highlighted the initiative's goal of bringing administrative processes closer to the public while ensuring the transparent management of license-related cases. He further noted that this approach is part of a broader strategy to mitigate road accidents across Burkina Faso.
Concluding the session, the Commission called on the implicated drivers to exercise greater caution and adhere strictly to the Highway Code. Two additional fairground sessions are scheduled for 2025.
