OUAGADOUGOU: The constituted bodies of the Centre-East region, led by Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, have successfully planted more than 200 medicinal and fruit trees at the site of the Polytechnic University of Tenkodogo. This initiative aligns with President Ibrahim Traor©'s call for the people of Burkina Faso to plant and protect five million trees as part of the 7th edition of National Tree Day.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Colonel Lamizana commended the dedication of the constituted bodies, the Defense and Security Forces, unions, and the general populace. He encouraged them to embrace the Patriotic Hour to further the greening efforts in Faso. He remarked, "We have planted 200 seedlings on this site. I invite those who were unable to reach the official site to plant them in services, homes, public spaces, and gardens."
Jean Bosco Zongo, Regional Director of Water and Forests for the Centre-East, highlighted the broader regional goals, stating, "We have planted 200 plants here, on the official site, but we are expecting more than 265,000 plants for the entire region to achieve the set objectives."
