Bobo-Dioulasso: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, launched on Monday April 29, 2024 in Bobo Dioulasso, tourist activities on the occasion of the 21st National Culture Week (SNC) . Around 2,500 visitors are expected in the tourist sites of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso and its surroundings during the 2024 edition of the National Culture Week (SNC). And this, as part of an initiative by the Burkinabè National Tourism Office (ONTB), called 'Tourism of the SNC'. These tourist activities were launched this Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Dioulassoba Mosque, by the minister in charge of tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, accompanied by his Nigerien counterpart, Abdourahamane Amadou. During the week, radio broadcasts, capacity building for tourist guides, VIP and general public excursions will be organized for the benefit of festival-goers, schools and artists. Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo recalled that the tourism development of the acti vities of this biennial is a 'major' innovation which is the culmination of reflections during previous editions. For him, the SNC constitutes an ideal channel for tourist activities and makes it possible to highlight the heritage sites of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso and surrounding areas. These include, among others, the Sogossira Municipal Museum, the village of Kôrô, the Guimbi Ouattara Mausoleum, the Guinguette, and many other wonders. Ouédraogo invited festival-goers to a 'massive' mobilization around tourism promotion activities to raise the profile of the Burkina Faso destination. He recalled that the tourism sector in Burkina Faso has 1,080 tourist sites as diverse as 399 major sites. In 2021, the sector mobilized nearly 520,000 visitors and generated revenue of 55.7 billion CFA francs. The Minister in charge of culture of Niger, Abdourahamane Amadou, judged the initiative of the Burkinabè authorities 'very commendable' in the sense, he said, that it aims to highlight the tourist potential of the country. And note that the Dioulassoba Mosque has the same similarities as a mosque built in the 1500s in Agadez in Niger. Source: Burkina Information Agency
