CJCB Hosts First Orientation Day for New Communication Students in Ouagadougou.

Ouagadougou: The Collective of Young Communicators of Burkina (CJCB) organized the inaugural Welcome and Orientation Day for new communication students on Saturday, November 23, 2024. In a world where media and communication are rapidly evolving, the CJCB has taken a significant step to introduce these changes to the new generation of students. According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, held under the theme "The current face of communication: challenges and opportunities for young students," was designed to guide students in their academic and professional endeavors. Gustave Konaté, President of the CJCB, emphasized the importance of the initiative, encouraging students to be curious, innovative, and ethical as they embark on a career that has the potential to transform society. Sylvain Vebamba, the sponsor of the ceremony and special advisor to the president of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, urged students to develop a critical mindset and audacity. He highlighted the crucial role they wi ll play as future opinion leaders and advocates for transparency and democracy. Yirmalè Frédéric Some, the Director General of Communication, conveyed the challenges and opportunities within the profession. Representing the Minister of State in charge of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, he advised students to embrace rigor, professionalism, and social responsibility, underlining the need for credible voices in the world of communication. Mr. Somé praised the initiative, recognizing its significance as a platform to understand the strategic aspects of communication and journalism. He noted that it equips students to face the challenges in these fields. Founded in 2023, the Collectif des Jeunes Communicants du Burkina seeks to provide training, mentoring, networking, and professional integration opportunities for young people. Gustave Konaté mentioned that further activities, including capacity-building training, mentoring sessions, and partnerships with companies and institutions, are planned to facilitate the professional integration of members.
