Tashkent: A joint training course focusing on Halal Standards and Testing in the OIC Food, Medicines, and Cosmetics sectors has been launched in Tashkent. This event is a collaboration between COMSTECH and the Standards, Metrology and Food Security authorities. The five-day course welcomed participants from five OIC member states attending in person, alongside international representatives participating remotely.According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, highlighted the significance of the halal concept, which is deeply entrenched in Islamic principles and encompasses not only food but also pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. He underscored the growing importance of halal certification and standardization, which are crucial for promoting trade, building consumer trust, and ensuring adherence to Sharia law.Additionally, Chaudhry introduced several key programs spearheaded by COMSTECH, notably the Uzbekistan Country Program. This initiative p rovides scholarships, organizes joint scientific events, and supports projects specifically designed for Uzbek women researchers.
