Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, met with the presidents of the parliaments of Mali and Niger, who were led by Dr. Ousmane BOUGOUMA, the president of the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) of Burkina Faso. The meeting focused on the submission of the draft legal text for the establishment of a confederal parliament among Sahel states.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation was in Ouagadougou for a meeting involving parliamentarians and experts tasked with drafting the legal texts for the future confederal parliament. The preliminary draft was presented to President TRAORE, who is expected to forward it to his counterparts for review and adoption, aiming for the swift establishment of sessions for the confederal parliament.
Dr. Ousmane BOUGOUMA stated that President TRAORE was receptive and assured them that he would collaborate with leaders in Mali and Niger to expedite the examination and adoption of the document. The treaty for the Confederation of Sahel States includes three bodies, with the confederal parliament being a key component for enhancing cooperation and integration among the Sahel nations.
