Customs and Traditions Day Gains Appreciation in Sindou

L©raba: The guarantors of customs and traditions in Sindou expressed their appreciation on Monday, July 21, 2025, for the establishment of a national day dedicated to customs and traditions in Burkina Faso by the first authorities. This initiative appears to be a breath of fresh air, more accepted than ever by the communities concerned in Sindou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, May 15, the day par excellence of customs and traditions, is now officially established in Burkina Faso by the first authorities in 2024 to honor the customs and traditions that are fundamental to African civilization. It is in its second edition and appreciated by the guarantors of tradition, customs, and traditions in Sindou.

Souileymane Kon©, the main heir to the customs and traditions and one of the land chiefs in Sindou, said he was pleasantly surprised by this decision to officially establish a day dedicated to the same level of consideration as other major festivals in the country. For him, this initiative represents a significant step forward for the well-being and development of Burkina Faso. He emphasized that the nation's current challenges are partly due to straying from ancestral paths, and this day serves as a reminder for younger generations to connect with their roots.

While welcoming President Ibrahim Traor© and his government for this initiative, Mr. Kon© promised a better future for the Burkinabe head of state and for the entire country. The first vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of Sindou, Sina Ouattara, another guarantor of the customs of the Ouattara of Sindou, also praised the initiative. He noted that the community's engagement reflects the citizens' positive reception.

Sina Ouattara expressed that the emotional celebration in 2025, marked by the participation of the community members and the performance of traditional rites, underscored the significance of customs. He stressed that every Burkinabe should embrace their customs and traditions as a vital part of their identity.

The provincial director in charge of Culture of L©raba, Michel Kabor©, acknowledged the enthusiasm from both provincial authorities and the local population. He emphasized the importance of additional support to further energize this celebration and called on the people of L©raba to unite in organizing activities for the event.
