Bam: The project to support the resettlement and strengthening of the resilience of returnee populations, implemented by the Dignus association with the financial support of the NGO Christian Aid, has enabled around a hundred households in the villages of Tangui¨ma and Darigma (commune of Kongoussi) to regain hope through agro-pastoral and social cohesion activities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the project, which concluded on July 14, 2025, in Kongoussi, was launched in November 2024 and was financed with 35 million FCFA. It directly affected more than 1,500 people, facilitating access to improved seeds, agricultural inputs, goats, and training in agricultural techniques and saponification for women. It also supported around ten people living with disabilities in constructing new homes.
"In both villages, we were able to train 40 women in livestock farming techniques and provide them with goats, train 40 others in market gardening production techniques and provide them with inputs, provide support with improved seeds to 80 women, train and equip 10 women in soap making, and provide 10 households with shelter kits. We also implemented two village action plans to promote social cohesion, accompanied by radio broadcasts. Listening to the testimonies of the beneficiaries, I can say that the results are very satisfactory," said Sadou Consimbo, chairman of the board of directors of Dignus.
Balguissa Kinda, a beneficiary in Darigma, highlighted the project's tangible impacts: "We received goats, inputs, and learned farming techniques. This will allow us to produce and meet our needs. We thank Dignus and its partner very much," she said.
The municipal authorities of Kongoussi expressed similar satisfaction. Sayouba Ou©draogo, the town's secretary general, praised the initiative and called for the project to be extended to all the returned villages in the municipality. He urged partners to continue their efforts to enable the population to take charge of their own lives.
The chairman of the Technical Support Committee (PCTA) of the Dignus association, Pastor Tegwend© L©onard Kinda, explained that through this project, Dignus and Christian Aid, members of the ACT Alliance, are demonstrating their commitment to sustainable recovery, combining food security, economic empowerment, and social cohesion.
