Sandbondotenga: Dragon FC emerged victorious in the first edition of the Kaya Maracana U17 social cohesion tournament, clinching the title with a narrow 1-0 win over Bonheur FC. The final took place on August 15, 2025, at the Lelegs© school grounds in sector 4.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament was initiated by the Wendpanga FC club to benefit young athletes and concluded under the guidance of Mr. Ousmane Zamtako, president of the Kuils© Regional Football League. The event was co-sponsored by Dieu-Donn© Wendpouir© Ou©draogo, correspondent for the Observer, and Mr. Jean No«l Soulga, CEO of Jean No«l Informatique (JNI). This first edition gathered a significant number of football players and an enthusiastic audience.
As winners, Dragon FC received a trophy, a set of jerseys, a ball, and 30,000 CFA francs. The runners-up, Bonheur FC, received similar rewards, with an envelope of 25,000 CFA francs. Wendpanga FC and ESIF FC, which finished third and fourth, also received balls and cash prizes. Additional awards were given to outstanding teams and players.
Moustapha Ou©draogo, the president of the organizing committee, stated, "We organized this tournament with the aim of providing useful activities for children, while promoting social cohesion and contributing to the next generation of athletes."
The initiative was praised by the provincial director in charge of sports, Teganaba Wili, along with co-sponsors and other sports stakeholders, who recognized its role in nurturing future football talents in the province and across Burkina Faso.
The tournament featured 12 teams and delivered 19 matches, all played in a spirit of fraternity and fair play.
