Bagr©: The Dumu Ka Fa fund has granted financing of 450 million FCFA to Kokuma SA, a company based in Bagr©, in the Center-East region. This initiative is part of efforts to revive the rural economy and has enabled Kokuma SA to avoid a negative balance sheet. Specializing in the processing of local rice, the company has experienced a significant improvement in its performance and economic stability due to this financial support.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the financial boost has allowed Kokuma SA to support its producers by increasing their production capacity, enhancing agricultural yields, and securing raw materials. The company's general manager, Father Jean Paul Yoda, highlighted that without the Dumu Ka Fa fund, achieving positive results last year would have been impossible. Kokuma SA managed to collect approximately 1,800 tons of raw rice from cooperative societies, which was crucial for fulfilling contracts with SONAGESS and the World Food Programme.
Before receiving the funding, Kokuma SA employed 11 permanent employees and three teams of seasonal workers. The increased production capacity and orders have since enabled the company to expand to five teams and strengthen its permanent workforce to 14 people. This expansion included the recruitment of a cashier, a stock manager, and a sales representative.
Mr. Yoda noted that the collaboration with the Dumu Ka Fa fund offered several advantages, including a low interest rate of 5%, easy access to financing, and technical support. He also acknowledged the presence of monitoring staff who ensure the proper utilization of the funds. He expressed gratitude during a visit by Dumu Ka Fa fund agents to Kokuma SA's premises.
The priest-entrepreneur emphasized that the DKF fund plays a vital role in local development, capacity building of rural stakeholders, and achieving financial self-sufficiency for businesses. It serves as an important lever for agricultural development and improving the living conditions of producers. He extended thanks to the country's authorities, DKF staff, and all contributors to this financing mechanism.
The Dumu Ka Fa fund, established in February 2024 by the Burkinabe government, aims to address the financing needs of agro-pastoral and fisheries stakeholders by supporting projects with significant rural impacts.
