Sanmatenga: €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬°lise Zongo/Bationo was installed as the interim general manager of the Kaya Regional Hospital Center (CHR) by the regional director of health for the Centre-Nord, Palamanga Ouoba. She replaces Safoura Sawadogo/Yam©ogo, who was dismissed by the government on June 18, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬°lise Zongo/Bationo, who previously held the position of Director of General Services and Logistics at Kaya CHR, has been appointed as Interim Director General following Order No. 2025-435/MS/CAB dated June 24, 2025. This leadership changeover was marked by a ceremony attended by both the outgoing and interim directors, along with their key team members.
The decision to dismiss Safoura Sawadogo/Yam©ogo was made by the Council of Ministers during their meeting on June 18, 2025. Lucien Robert Kargougou, the Minister of Health, explained on national television that the dismissal was due to Sawadogo/Yam©ogo's "inertia" in addressing the issue of patients being redirected to private clinics, which prompted the government to take action.
Minister Kargougou urged public hospital administrators to exercise greater vigilance and accountability to prevent such practices from continuing.
