Beijing: The Embassy of Burkina Faso in China held a farewell ceremony for two key military office officials, Colonel-Major Serge Alain Ou©draogo and Chief Warrant Officer Th©odore Zongo, marking the end of their mission in China after five years of dedicated service.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony took place at the diplomatic mission in Beijing and was attended by the Burkina Faso Ambassador to China, Daouda Biti©, as well as staff and members of the Burkinabe community in China. The event began with a solemn minute of silence in honor of soldiers and Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland who have lost their lives in service.
Ambassador Daouda Biti© commended the two officials for their outstanding contributions over the years. He highlighted the commitment of Colonel-Major Serge Alain Ou©draogo during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, noting his efforts to enhance Burkina Faso's military capabilities through partnerships in China. His visits to military institutions and arms companies significantly contributed to Burkina Faso's defense strategy.
The ambassador also acknowledged Chief Warrant Officer Th©odore Zongo's dedication and adaptability during his tenure. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and the absence of prior records, Zongo's management of military finances was praised for its thoroughness and integrity.
Reacting to the ambassador's remarks, Colonel-Major Ou©draogo reflected on his mission as part of the renewed military cooperation between Burkina Faso and China. He emphasized the importance of this partnership, which includes training opportunities and military equipment support, and advocated for its expansion to benefit Burkina Faso's autonomy and development.
Chief Warrant Officer Zongo also expressed gratitude for the professional and social integration he experienced during his mission, highlighting the mutual support and cooperation among embassy staff.
The farewell ceremony underscored the strategic importance of the military relationship between Burkina Faso and China, celebrating the achievements of the departing officials while setting the stage for continued collaboration in the future.
