Pass©na: The public primary school of Pass©na, located in the commune of Kampti (Poni), marked its golden jubilee with a grand celebration attended by notable figures, including the governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka BARRO. The event drew former students along with customary, administrative, and educational authorities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was themed "Education and Development: 50 Years of the Pass©na School, Challenges and Prospects," and was sponsored by Commander Isma«l SOMBIE, Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries. He was represented by his mission manager at the event. The anniversary was also co-sponsored by Djourmit© Nestor NOUFE, Director General of GIP-PNVB, and Dr. PALE K©rabourou, Director General of Burkina Suudu Baw¨, who are both alumni of the school.
In his opening remarks, Bªbª Kambou, president of the organizing committee, highlighted the importance of the initiative and praised the enthusiasm of the former students and the local community. He emphasized that this reunion served as a moment of remembrance and revival for the Pass©na school. Si© PALE, Regional Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education of Dj´r´, spoke on behalf of the alumni, paying tribute to the school's teachers and recalling the school's founding in October 1975 under its first director, Mr. Si© Gustave Aim©.
Dr. PALE K©rabourou, representing the co-sponsors, motivated students to have confidence in themselves and urged alumni to invest in the school's future. Governor Siaka BARRO commended the alumni's dedication and highlighted education's role in transforming rural societies, while the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture expressed gratitude from the government.
The ceremony featured honored guests, including a technical advisor from the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages, His Majesty Bifate II, and Mr. Al Hassane Sienou, represented by the CEO of Les Gourmets restaurant. They were acknowledged for their commitment to education.
During the festivities, surviving teachers were recognized with certificates, a loincloth, a jubilee polo shirt, and an envelope containing 50,000 CFA francs each. Outstanding students were awarded school kits. Notably, bikers from Faso (West Coast Aventured) attended to promote road safety awareness.
The jubilee concluded with tree planting, a football match, a community meal, and a dance evening, fostering an atmosphere of reunion and celebration. Former students pledged continued support for Pass©na school to enhance educational outcomes for future generations in the region.
