Forty students and four deserving teachers honored in Dori

The educational world of the Sahel region recognized and rewarded the efforts of some forty primary, post-primary and secondary students, as well as four teachers, during a day of academic excellence which took place in Dori, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.This day of excellence, placed under the theme "Educational continuity and resilience of actors", was co-organized by the regional directorate of preschool, primary education, literacy and non-formal education (DREPPNF), as well as the one in charge of post-primary and secondary education (DREPS) of the Sahel.According to the DREPPNF of the Sahel, Mr. Elhadji Boubacar, spokesperson for the two organizing structures, this day is a tangible sign of the liveliness of the regional education system despite insecurity.Mr. Boubacar warmly thanked all the actors and partners for the tireless efforts they make daily in favor of resilience and educational continuity in this part of Burkina Faso.He recalled that despite the context of insecurity, the Sahel region recorded, during the 2024 session, 83.49% success rate for the CEP, 64.06% for the BEP, 47.73% for the BEPC and 62.01% for the baccalaureate.For the UNICEF representative in Dori, Mr. Gervais Ouattara, the organization of this day has a deep meaning. This is why, while welcoming the resilience of the various actors, Mr. Ouattara expressed UNICEF's total availability to support the Burkinabe government.Addressing his godchildren, the president of the consular delegation of the Sahel Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ibrahim Dicko, patron of the ceremony, said that the excellence awards are an invitation to persevere in the effort. Mr. Dicko thanked the national and regional authorities, the actors and partners of the education system for educational continuity in the Sahel.The Governor of the Sahel region, Lieutenant Colonel Fabien Rodolphe Sorgho, expressed his warm thanks to the sponsor, stakeholders and partners of the regional education system.He urged the winners to keep the flame of hope burning, t o be a source of motivation and regional and national pride.The governor said he was convinced that an education based on our morals and our social values ????is a plausible alternative for a better future for Burkina Faso.The winning students received school kits, bicycles, tablets and cash.
