Gold Standard 2025 Ceremony to Honor Burkinabe Athletes in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou: The prestigious ceremony to recognize the best Burkinabe international athletes of the year, "Golden Stallions," is scheduled to take place on June 14 in Ouagadougou. This year's event will be co-chaired by the three ministers in charge of sports from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Burkina Faso's Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Anuyirtole Roland Somda, Mali's Minister of Youth and Sports, in charge of civic education and citizen building, Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba, and Niger's Minister of Youth and Sports, Sidi Mohamed Almouhmoud, will be in Ouagadougou to co-chair the third edition of Etalon en Or.

The Gold Standard football award will recognize the best Burkinabe international footballer who has excelled outside the country's borders. The Burkindi award for the best female athlete will honor the one who has distinguished herself the most, while the Gold Standard associated disciplines will pay tribute to athletes from all disciplines who have excelled this year.

In the previous edition, Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen, Germany, won the Golden Stallion in football. Hugues Fabrice Zango was recognized in the Golden Stallion associated discipline, and Marthe Yasmine Koala won in the Burkindi category.

The ceremony will take place at Canal Olympia Ouaga 2000 on Saturday, June 14.
