Gourma: The High Commissioner of the province of Gourma, Silas Nacanabo, marked the 7th edition of the National Tree Day by planting ten trees at his residence. This event was held in conjunction with the Patriotic Hour to Green Faso, an initiative encouraging citizens to plant five million trees in one hour on June 21, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event aligns with the environmental policies set by the leadership of Burkina Faso, known as the Land of Upright Men. The High Commissioner planted mango and lemon trees, highlighting the practical benefits of these species. He remarked that mango trees provide useful fruits, shade, and leaves beneficial in traditional medicine.
Nacanabo emphasized the symbolic nature of tree planting, urging residents of his area to heed the President's call to plant and maintain at least one tree. He expressed his commitment to continue the initiative beyond the designated hour, aiming to provide lasting benefits of shade and fruit to the community.
