Gourma: As part of preparations for the 2025 reforestation campaign, the regional director of Water and Forests for the East, Lieutenant-Colonel Romuald Niki©ma, visited three groves in Fada N'Gourma where plant survival rates exceed 90%, AIB noted.
According to Burkina Information Agency, greening Burkina Faso is one of the great visions of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. With this in mind, the 2025 reforestation campaign across the entire national territory is scheduled for June 21, 2025. The regional director of Water and Forests of the East, Lieutenant-Colonel Romuald Niki©ma, visited three groves with the aim of learning from past experiences to improve this reforestation campaign.
The field trip allowed him to learn about the survival rates of seedlings and the management organization of groves carried out as part of past editions of the National Tree Days (JNA). These groves are from the Tin-ba Association, the Gulmu Cultural Association for Earth and Percussion (ACTP/GUL), and the Regional Institute of Administration (IRA) of the East.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Romuald Niki©ma, the survival rate of seedlings in the groves of the Tin-ba Association and the IRA of the East is 100%, and that of the ACTP/GUL is 90%. He considered the work carried out by these actors, the ENA graduates, and the associative structures to be very satisfactory.
According to him, the objective of his field visit is to draw lessons to prepare the site for this special reforestation campaign. He specified that the specificity of this year's site stems from the fact that it will also be a medicinal plant grove with committed men and women. This medicinal plant grove is intended to benefit traditional practitioners and the population of the eastern region.
Regarding the 2025 reforestation campaign, the lieutenant colonel maintained that his organization is ready for a successful campaign. In this regard, he indicated that steps are underway, sites have been identified, and social mobilization is continuing to ensure stakeholders understand the new innovations.
Among these innovations, there is the creation of medicinal plant groves established by the President of Faso and the establishment of five school groves in the Eastern region, according to him.
The regional director invites everyone to support the patriotic hour policy to green Faso, scheduled for June 21, 2025, where each citizen must plant at least one tree that they are able to maintain. To succeed, this policy of the highest authorities of Faso, the lieutenant-colonel emphasized that his service will make plants available to all those who want to plant trees and who do not have the means.
