Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE chaired this Wednesday, the weekly Council of Ministers. According to the Minister Spokesperson of the Government, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO, several files on the agenda were examined and important decisions taken for the smooth running of the Nation.According to Burkina Information Agency, under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Council of Ministers adopted three decrees. The first decree relates to the creation of the National Agency for the Promotion of Tourism (Faso Tourisme). This is an agency that replaces the Burkinabe National Tourism Office (ONTB), according to the Government Spokesperson and Minister responsible for Culture and Tourism.The new decree provides for several innovations that will enable the new agency to carry out its missions properly. These include, among others, the reconfiguration of the board of directors to include professional tourism organizations, the expansion of the agency's attributio ns for greater promotion of internal tourism, the creation of a Tourism Promotion Council as an advisory body to issue opinions on the strategy for promoting external and internal tourism, and the development of the brand image of the Burkina Faso destination."The creation of this new agency is the result of the government's desire to give new momentum to the Burkinabe tourism sector," said Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO.The second decree involves the establishment of the Burkinabe Agency for Cinematography and Audiovisual Media, resulting from the merger of several structures. These include the general management of the Higher Institute of Image and Sound (ISIS), the general management of FESPACO, the technical secretariat of the National Center for Cinematography and Audiovisual Media, and the directorate of cinematography and audiovisual media."It is about merging all these structures for more coherence, more harmony, more rationality and above all more efficiency," said the Minister respo nsible for Culture, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO.This agency's missions include supporting the development of the value chain of the cinema and audiovisual economy in Burkina Faso, ensuring the regulation and control of the cinema and audiovisual sector, maintaining the public register of cinema and audiovisual, contributing to the structuring of stakeholders, and setting up a national cinema and audiovisual ticket office.For the Minister of Culture, this agency will resolve the thorny issue of financing cinema and audiovisual. The adoption of this decree is accompanied by transitional provisions to allow the next edition of FESPACO to be held next February and for other structures to continue operating before the new agency becomes operational.The third decree adopts the special statutes of the National Agency for the Promotion of Tourism (Faso Tourisme) and the Burkinabe Agency for Cinematography and Audiovisual Media to enable the operationalization of these two structures.
