Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the Sourou province, Desire Badolo, called on Friday, during a ceremony to pay tribute to the martyrs of the 2014 popular uprising, to continue the struggle undertaken by the latter until final victory. The population of Sourou observed, on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Tougan, in the presence of the province's leading figures, a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the 2014 popular uprising in Burkina Faso.According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Badolo emphasized the importance of continuing the fight initiated in 2014 for freedom, dignity, and justice. He noted that the struggle is more challenging today due to the current context of insecurity and the quest for national sovereignty. The High Commissioner urged the population to observe a minute of silence every October 31st in memory of the uprising's victims.Mr. Badolo stated, 'Every October 31st, we should observe this minute of silence to pay tribute to them and honor their memory. It is a mark of r ecognition for the sacrifice made, which we must not forget. We pray for the repose of their souls and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,' highlighting the ongoing importance of remembering the sacrifices made during the uprising.
