Ouagadougou: High Commissioner Saba Zorom© officially launched Patriotic Hour in the province on Saturday. In a solemn and symbolic atmosphere, he was joined in this civic gesture by the secretary general of the province, Adams Davou, the president of the special delegation of the commune of Sapouy, provincial directors, heads of department, association leaders, and several other personalities committed to the environmental cause.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commission compound and the High Commissioner's residence served as the setting for this planting operation, in line with the ambitious national objective of planting 5 million trees in one hour - between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. - as part of National Tree Day.
High Commissioner Saba Zorom© emphasized that this activity is not limited to a simple symbolic planting. It is part of a global dynamic aimed at raising awareness. He noted, "There was a day of information and exchanges, as well as a radio broadcast, to better raise awareness among the population about the importance of this day and the need to protect our natural resources."
The people of Ziro responded by coming out in large numbers to buy plants, demonstrating a real popular enthusiasm for this ecological initiative. However, planting a tree is not enough, as the High Commissioner acknowledged. "The real challenge remains its protection," he stated. To this end, he instructed the municipality to take firm measures against stray animals, which are often responsible for destroying young plants.
With this initiative, Ziro is part of the national dynamic of reforestation and adaptation to climate change, with a clear message that Burkina's ecological renaissance begins with individual efforts.
