Ganzourgou: The High Commissioner of the province of Ganzourgou, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, presided over a ceremonial flag-raising event at the town hall of Mogtédo. This event, which took place on November 6, 2024, was marked by a gathering of provincial service directors, local authorities, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), and local forces, showcasing a united front in the face of ongoing security challenges in the region.According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was highlighted by the singing of the national anthem in the Mooré language, reflecting a deep respect for the nation's cultural heritage. In her address, Mrs. Sorgho/Gouba commended the residents and local authorities of Mogtédo for their hospitality and active participation. She urged the community to foster values of tolerance, integrity, and patriotism among the younger generation, emphasizing the importance of unity in overcoming hatred and divisions.The event also served as a platform for the High Commi ssioner to stress the significance of solidarity, particularly as the month of solidarity had commenced on November 4. She encouraged the people of Ganzourgou to engage in fundraising activities to aid vulnerable groups and to exhibit increased compassion during this period.Following the ceremony, an exchange session was conducted between the High Commissioner, provincial directors, and the vital forces of the Mogtédo commune. This session addressed various concerns, such as the need for equipment at the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Mogtédo, issues of traffic safety, and support for local farmers. Dr. Delphin Kaboré, the chief physician of the Zorgho health district, seized the opportunity to educate the women present on breast and cervical cancer prevention, underlining the importance of early detection.Discussions also centered on security and education, with provincial director Patrick Paré voicing concerns about children's presence on gold mining sites, which poses a significant risk t o their future. Additionally, provincial authorities engaged in a special session with the VDP, where Mrs. Sorgho/Gouba and her team reaffirmed their support and addressed the VDP's concerns.This flag-raising ceremony is part of a broader initiative involving the rotating raising of colors across provincial directorates and departments. It underscores a commitment to national defense and the promotion of solidarity, integrity, and unity within the Ganzourgou community.
