Bobo-dioulasso: The Bobo-Dioulasso special municipal delegation recently held the second edition of the municipal youth day, focusing on the well-being of young people and exploring sustainable solutions to their challenges. The event drew 350 participants from various youth organizations, centered around the theme "In the context of the progressive and popular Revolution, I, a young citizen, am committed to the development of my community in order and discipline."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special municipal delegation, Laurent Kontogom, emphasized the importance of the theme, urging young people to embrace civic responsibility, solidarity, and collective accountability. Kontogom stated that the event serves as a platform for discussing youth living conditions in Bobo and strategizing concrete actions for their welfare.
The day's agenda included a conference on youth civic engagement led by Lieutenant Colonel Lassan© Porgo, commander of the 2nd Military Region. This session provided insights into the critical role young citizens play in the nation's development.
Alimata Kindo, president of the Bobo-Dioulasso Youth Association (AJCB), advocated for enhanced municipal consultation frameworks with youth and the revival of the municipal fund aimed at empowering women and young people. She also urged public and private partners to increase internship and job opportunities for the youth.
These appeals resonated positively, with Ibrahim Sanfo, president of the Burkina Faso Interprofessional Cashew Committee, pledging to offer internships to facilitate the professional integration of young people.
The day featured several activities, including panel discussions, paving work, and direct exchanges between young participants and authorities. Additionally, a reforestation session saw the planting of nearly 200 plants, including 50 on the Faso Mªbo site, by the attendees.
