Sourou/ccp: Members of the Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) held their first ordinary session of the year on Friday, June 27, 2025, on the humanitarian and health situation in the province of Sourou. The session, chaired by High Commissioner D©sir© Badolo, took place in the Public Reading and Cultural Animation Center (CELPAC) in Tougan with financial backing from the Red Cross and Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh-L).
According to Burkina Information Agency, discussions at the session primarily centered on the current humanitarian and health challenges facing the province. On the humanitarian front, provincial director Moumouni Kagamb¨ga reported that Sourou is home to 78,972 internally displaced persons (IDPs), primarily women and children. Kagamb¨ga assured attendees that the directorate responsible for humanitarian action is actively working to address their needs.
In the health sector, Dr. Constantin Sow from the Tougan Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) highlighted several pressing issues. The province has 51 health facilities, comprising 49 public and 2 private facilities. However, 28 of these facilities are closed, and 21 are operating only minimally, supported by 5 advanced health posts.
High Commissioner D©sir© Badolo expressed his appreciation for the quality of the discussions and extended gratitude to the Red Cross and Tdh-L for their support. He also called upon other organizations to contribute to future sessions of the CCP.
