The Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Bètamou Fidèle Aymar Tamini chaired the installation ceremony of the members of the Commission of the 14th edition of the International Symposium of granite sculptures this August 27, 2024 in Laongo, a locality located 7 km from Ziniaré, capital of the Oubritenga province, in the Central Plateau region.According to Fidèle Aymar Tamini, the Commissioner of the symposium, made up of six people, is a technical body whose main missions consist, among other things, of defining the artistic and scientific content of the activities of the 14th edition, identifying the granite outcrops which will be used for the creation of the works, define the themes for the progress of the school workshop on the occasion of the symposium, select the professional artists who will participate in the 14th edition.Explanations from the president of the said Commission, Siriki Ki, Burkinabe sculptor artist, out of 40 applications received from 9 cou ntries, 17 will be selected for Sympo Granit 2024.According to the SG, the establishment of the symposium commissioner responds to the need to strengthen the quality of the organization by improving the quality of artistic content and capitalizing on historical experiences which are common to Burkina Faso and the other countries.For him, the diversification of the profiles of the members of the Commission is a prerequisite in view of the great ambitions for this edition because, he says, "this will result in the production of consolidated work which draws its foundations from the convergence of experiences and perspectives plurals.To do this, the Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of Culture urged the established members to demonstrate professionalism in the organization of this Symposium initiated since 1989 and which is a major artistic event whose reputation transcends borders national.Before the installation of the members of the Commission, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the cus tomary and religious authorities of the locality in order to receive their blessings for the smooth running of the Symposium scheduled for October 3 to 24, 2024.Source: Burkina Information Agency
