ISIE: electoral boundary delimitation draft being finalised (Mansri)

The electoral boundary delimitation draft, which is part of the implementation of the provisions of the decree on the organisation of the municipal and district elections, is making good progress, said Tlili Mansri, spokesperson for the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE). Speaking to TAP on the sidelines of a working session at the Kébili governorate headquarters on Saturday, the ISIE spokesperson said the plan would allow the precise delimitation of some 2085 imadas. The plan is being overseen by teams from the ISIE, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Institute of Statistics, the National Office of Topography and Cadastre and the National Centre for Cartography and Remote Sensing, he added. Mansri said that 70 new constituencies would be created in delegations with fewer than 5 imadas. As a result, the number of constituencies will rise to 2155, he said. In this context, the ISIE spokesman pointed out that once the electoral boundary delimitation draft is finalised, the ISIE will proceed with the registration of voters. It would be fully finalised before June 23, he said, assuring that the authority is fully prepared to organise the local council elections.
