Since July 15, the Kienta workshops for initiation into local culture have been training children in Bobo-Dioulasso in dance, theater, music, singing, slam, furring, dyeing, acrobatics, but also on the lives of historical figures of Burkina Faso, Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly and Thomas Sankara."The Kienta Initiation Workshops, which have been organized for 5 years, aim to allow children to learn about our traditions and cultures but also to know African and Burkinabe history and the lives of our personalities who are not taught in our school programs," said artistic director Djibril Ouattara.This year, the Kienta Initiation Workshops are held under the theme "from Voltaic Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly to Burkinabe Thomas Sankara, duty of memory".In the difficult security context that Burkina Faso is experiencing, the theme aims, according to the artistic director, to give children points of reference and to animate the patriotic feeling in the hearts of the youngest who will be the leaders of tomorrow."Today, we have a revolutionary president Ibrahim Traoré who draws a lot of inspiration from his predecessor Thomas Sankara, whom children need to know and also know that the latter was also inspired by Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly," stressed Djibril Ouattara.The story of the two political leaders will be presented by the children during a musical comedy on Saturday, September 14, 2024. On the occasion, the children will also present what they have learned in dance, theater, music, singing, slam, fur, dyeing, acrobatics.The Kienta workshops, which began on July 15, will also be marked by immersion visits to tourist sites and exchange meetings with personalities on the theme.The previous edition, placed under the theme "Bobo avant-avant", focused on the history of the mythical public squares of Bobo-Dioulasso such as the Place du paysan, the Place Wara Wara, the Place Tiéfo Amoro.Source: Burkina Information Agency
