The Atlanta FC team won the trophy of the 2nd edition of the Youth Cup on Saturday, August 31, 2024, by beating the Maracana du Plateau team in the final, on penalties with a score of 2 goals to 0, on the grounds of the Nouna town hall.The final match, of an average level, had moments of domination on both sides without managing to open the score.A penalty shootout was needed to decide the two teams. At the end of the fateful match, Atalanta FC won by a score of two goals to zero.The tournament, which began on June 22, 2024, saw the participation of twenty-four teams divided into six groups of four. Thirty-six matches were played and fifty-two goals were scored according to the president of the organizing committee, Paul Dembelé.Speaking about the Youth Cup, promoter Issa Dama stressed that this edition was possible thanks to a popular contribution from the youth. "The Youth Cup has no godfather or sponsors," he stressed in his address, hence the resilient nature of this cup.At the end of the final , Atlanta FC champion got a set of jerseys, a ball, a trophy and the sum of 50,000 FCFA. The one from Maracana du Plateau left with a set of jerseys, a ball and the sum of 30,000 FCFA.For the occasion, those who distinguished themselves during the tournament were rewarded with special prizes.Source: Burkina Information Agency
