Kossi Child Protection Network Revamps Office to Tackle Emerging Challenges

Nouna: The child protection network renewed its office this Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in Nouna, during its general assembly, to meet the challenges that arise through the development of an action plan and the revitalization of the network.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the office of the child protection network was renewed to address the operational difficulties it has faced. The network, which was established on August 4, 2017, in Kossi province, consists of state structures, associations, and NGOs. It aims to enhance the protection of children through coordinated efforts led by a five-member coordination office. This office includes positions such as a coordinator, vice-coordinator, rapporteur, and two vice-rapporteurs.

The network has encountered challenges due to the movement of office members, which were influenced by personal reasons or the prevailing security context. Other issues affecting the network's efficiency include the lack of an action plan, inadequate renewal of office members, limited awareness of the network among protection actors, and poor coordination of activities.

In response to these challenges, the network decided to renew its office to facilitate the development of a robust action plan and revitalize its operations. Under the supervision of Souleymane Tiono, President of the special delegation of Nouna, a new institutional network has been established. The coordination is now handled by the judicial institution, while the vice-coordination is managed by the provincial directorate in charge of Primary Education. The Humanitarian Action has been designated for the reports and technical service, whereas the positions of the two vice-rapporteurs have been assigned to the health district and the NGO OCADES.

Furthermore, the network has established seven community child protection units across all sectors of Nouna commune. Stakeholders have urged the newly formed office to enhance their involvement to achieve set objectives, particularly considering the security challenges that affect children.
