The Association Nourish Without Destroying (ANSD), carried out on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, a guided tour of the rainwater catchment basin system in the agro-ecological approach, for the benefit of farmers in the communes of Baskouré and Tibga, in the presence of administrative, customary and religious authorities.The aim of the visit was to present to the municipal authorities and producers the integration of the rainwater catchment basin system in the agro-ecological approach, to encourage the scaling up of the practice and its consideration in the local development plans of the municipalities.Organized by the Association Nourish Without Destroying (ANSD), the visit began in the field of producer Tilaado Natama de Bogré, in the commune of Tibga and ended in the field of producer Emmanuel Ouango, in Bonessin, in the commune of Gounghin.After a year of implementing the new techniques in agriculture, the beneficiaries saw their agricultural yield improved.According to Tilaado Natama, an agricultura l producer in Bogré, the implementation of the technique has advantages. It allows the soil to be well nourished to have a good agricultural crop.'Regarding water catchment basins, many have seen the benefits and come to me for help. Thanks to my water catchment basin, my family and those around me are happy,' he said.For the technician and facilitator at the ANSD, Sidi Antoine Dori, the guided tour is an opportunity for other producers and even for the authorities to learn about the benefits of the water catchment basins."The producers have shown dedication in their work and have demonstrated that there is a possibility of changing things in agricultural production," he said.Sidi Antoine Dori, continued that the visit is intended to be a sharing of experience between actors to further combine efforts in order to strengthen their technical capacities."We have seen that the producers have applied everything we have taught and today the results are satisfactory in terms of productivity and we are happ y," explained the technician.The representative of the prefect of the department of Gounghin, Bilarga Dianou, congratulated the Association for the initiative and encouraged it for its commitment to the agricultural producers of the department.He called on other agricultural producers to adopt the new agricultural techniques of ANSD."I would first like to thank the Association nourrir sans désérer for supporting the commune of Gounghin and especially the farmers in their agricultural activities," added Mr. Dianou.He made a heartfelt appeal to producers to always be interested in the practices taught to them by ANSD for the development of the locality.The water catchment basin allows producers to retain water for use in the event of drought or after rain.It is used by agricultural producers for market gardening.Source: Burkina Information Agency
