Kourittenga: Eight New Priests Ordained to Proclaim the Gospel

Kourittenga: The Metropolitan Archbishop of Koupéla, Mgr Gabriel Sayaogo, ordained eight new priests this Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Notre Dame des Cathedral in Koupéla, and sent them to serve the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world.According to Burkina Information Agency, the Notre Dame des cathedral parish of Koupéla resonated with praises and prayers during the ordination mass of priests, celebrated by Mgr Gabriel Sayaogo. A total of eight new priests were ordained to proclaim the Gospel for the benefit of God's people.Bishop Sayaogo addressed the newly ordained priests, stating, "He has chosen you to become priests of the new covenant and is sending you first to the Diocese of Koupéla, then throughout Burkina Faso, and finally to the entire Catholic Church so that you may be bearers of his forgiveness to sinners, messengers of his joy, and envoys of his liberating love to the oppressed."The Metropolitan Archbishop emphasized the mission of the priests to not only proclaim but also to take action. He highlighted the importance of the Eucharist in the life of the Church and its liturgical practices, which are guided by established guidelines."The Eucharist is the source and summit of the life of the Church. So, dear priests, we are configured to the Eucharist, and without it, we are nothing," reiterated Bishop Gabriel Sayaogo.The newly ordained priests expressed their commitment and determination to fulfill their assigned mission. "Our thanksgiving today goes to the Almighty Father, who, providing for the needs of his Church, has made us cooperating priests of the episcopal order in the management of divine affairs for the benefit of his people," stated their spokesperson, who also requested support through prayers and guidance.In his closing remarks, the Archbishop of Koupéla congratulated and blessed the new priests, reminding them of their duties in serving the people of God effectively.
