Gourma: The Minister of Trade, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, conducted a working visit to Fada N'Gourma in the Goulmou region as part of the "buy local" month and ongoing discussions with regional economic stakeholders.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Poda emphasized the significance of this visit in fostering direct communication with decentralized structures and economic operators. It aimed to address local realities and encourage the production and consumption of local products, thereby strengthening value chains and contributing to job creation and wealth.
Minister Poda highlighted that this mission also serves as preparation for the upcoming Burkina Faso Regional Crafts Week in the Nakambe region. This event will mobilize artisans from Goulmou to showcase their skills and enhance networking among economic actors.
During the visit, the minister engaged with regional authorities, public structures, and economic operators, discussing concerns about taxation and the impact of security situations on economic activities. The minister commended the resilience of the economic actors and urged them to remain optimistic, citing improvements in security as a positive development.
Larba Lankoande, the spokesperson for Goulmou entrepreneurs, expressed appreciation for the minister's initiative and the government's efforts. He mentioned that the minister provided concrete solutions and reassurances regarding the gradual return of security and business resumption in the region.
On the sidelines of his visit, Minister Poda toured production sites, including the rice processing unit of the Tinfi cooperative and the GrSce du Goulmou Association, which specializes in spinning, dyeing, weaving, and training. Clarisse W. Ouedraogo/Tankoano, president of the Association of Persevering Women of Gulmu, expressed her gratitude for the minister's visit, stating that such support encourages continued progress.
Minister Poda reiterated the government's commitment to supporting industrial and artisanal development across Burkina Faso, aiming to establish industrial units in each region to generate jobs and wealth.
