Ouagadougou: The Minister in charge of youth, Roland Sonda, on Tuesday praised all volunteer organizations for their efforts in favor of the development of Burkina Faso. "Your commitment is tangible proof of patriotism and dedication, and the government, through the ministry that I have the honor to lead, salutes your invaluable contribution to the development of the country," said the Minister in charge of youth and employment, Roland Somda.According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister spoke on Tuesday, December 3, during the launch of the 2024 edition of International Volunteer Day, celebrated this year on the theme: "Volunteering: pillar of resilience and patriotic commitment in the service of the nation." For the head of the department in charge of employment, volunteers are an essential pillar of resilience in the sense that their numerous actions on the ground and within communities are decisive in various development sectors, including education, health, agriculture, etc.Minister Somda exp ressed, "Burkina Faso is proud of each of you, and you can be assured that our government will continue to support you and value your contribution." He emphasized that supporting volunteering means investing in building a more resilient, more inclusive, and more equitable society. Therefore, the government is committed to promoting volunteering while providing it with adequate tools and means.Several activities are scheduled for this commemoration from December 3 to 5, 2024. These include Volunteer Night, the Volunteer Football Cup, and Open Days to honor and promote the work of volunteers.
