More than 10,000 Seedlings to Be Planted in Zabr© for National Tree Day

Zabr©: On the occasion of National Tree Day, celebrated this Saturday, June 21, 2025, the municipality of Zabr© plans to plant more than 10,000 seedlings. The prefect, president of the special delegation (PDS), Alain Boubi© Bassono, officially launched the activities by calling on the population to ensure the proper care of the young plants.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the PDS, in his opening speech at the town hall, welcomed the initiative of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, and recalled the importance of this day dedicated to environmental protection. He emphasized the responsibility for climate change effects due to significant actions contributing to environmental degradation, such as heat waves and other climatic hazards.

The operation aims not only to reforest the territory but also to strengthen civic engagement in favor of nature. Residents were urged to report the number of seedlings planted to Water and Forestry officials for effective monitoring. The head of the Water and Forestry Department conducted a technical demonstration to educate participants, particularly young people and community leaders, on the essential steps to ensure plant survival.

Several associations participated in this activity alongside the PDS. Harouna Gouba, representing the Zabr© canton chief, praised the vision of the transitional president, expressing support on behalf of His Majesty Naaba Kougri. Zabr© youth leader T. Aziz Gouba encouraged peers to engage in the national reforestation effort, emphasizing the long-term benefits for future generations.

Awa Delphine War© of the Legakou association expressed her delight in learning how to plant a tree, while Luc Sango, general treasurer of the Zabr© Citizen Watch Association Coordination, welcomed the ambitious goal of planting five million trees in one hour in Burkina Faso, considering it feasible for the population.

The activity was not funded by the town hall, with local stakeholders voluntarily contributing to purchasing the plants and organizing the day, demonstrating their awareness of environmental issues.
