Bogand©: The English Club of the Bantia Municipal High School in Bogand© organized a cultural day on Saturday to raise awareness among students about the importance of living together through the recognition and promotion of linguistic and cultural diversity.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, themed "Multilingualism, a tool for social cohesion," was held on April 26, 2026, with an agenda to emphasize the significance of linguistic and cultural diversity in fostering peaceful coexistence. His Majesty Yempaabou Lankoand©, chief of the Bogand© canton, praised the English club's initiative, urging students to remain attentive and open-minded to maximize the benefits of the conference.
Speaker Kiri Lankoand©, an inspector of preschool, primary, and non-formal education, highlighted multilingualism as a valuable asset that facilitates understanding, improves communal living, and prevents conflicts arising from ignorance of differences. Co-speaker Moussa Haro, head of the sports and culture department at the CEB in Bogand©, pointed out that multilingualism enhances communication and reinforces a sense of belonging to a diverse and unified community.
Students actively engaged in discussions, showing a strong interest in issues surrounding peace, tolerance, and social cohesion. The school's principal, F©lix Sonkondila, commended the English club and encouraged further such initiatives for their educational benefits to young people.
Francis Lankoand©, the event's sponsor and treasurer of the school's APE, called for continued support for these initiatives. The day also included a blood drive collecting 70 bags and a fair where students showcased and sold local dishes.
A gala match concluded the educational activities, where the English club's team faced a team of students and teachers, ending in a 1-2 score. The match was marked by the satisfaction with the fair play exhibited.
The cultural day concluded with a night event organized by the English club, featuring a documentary screening on Thomas Sankara, playbacks, and sketches. Dayamba Parfait, the president of the English club, expressed gratitude to the authorities and guests for their support and commitment to education and youth development.
This event provided students with a deeper understanding of the crucial role multilingualism plays in creating a harmonious and inclusive society.
