Nahouri/Detention Center Director’s Cup: The Georges Namoano Military Academy Crowned Champion

Nahouri: The Georges Namoano Military Academy in P´ emerged victorious in the first edition of the Director of the Prison and Correctional Facility's Cup, held on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The event was presided over by the High Commissioner of Nahouri Province, Si© Aristide Mohamed Kam, and attended by several dignitaries, including a delegation from the Navrongo Civil Prison in Ghana.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition was held under the theme "Sport, a factor of resilience and solidarity for successful reintegration." It kicked off on April 11, 2025, and concluded on May 10, 2025, at the P´ remand and correction center. The event saw participation from 8 FDS and VDP teams, alongside 6 civilian teams, competing in a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Assetou Ouattara, the promoter and director of the remand center, emphasized that the competition aimed to inspire hope and action in a nation like Burkina Faso, which faces numerous challenges. The goal was to foster resilience, strengthen social connections, and promote genuine solidarity, even within the confines of a penal institution.

In the final match, AS Justice faced off against the Georges Namoano Military Academy, with the latter clinching the victory by scoring 1 goal to 0 in a penalty shootout. The triumphant team was awarded a trophy, a set of jerseys, and a prize of 75,000 CFA francs.

The High Commissioner, Si© Aristide Mohamed Kam, lauded the director and her team for their commendable initiative in organizing the event. The inaugural edition was sponsored by the Director General of the National Fund for the Promotion of Sports and Leisure, represented by the Provincial Director of Sports of Nahouri, Urbain Bamogo.
