Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication and Culture, Pingdwind© Gilbert Ou©draogo, initiated the planting of 800 trees on Saturday in a grove dedicated to the Burkinabe artist, located in the Balkuy district of Ouagadougou, spanning an area of three hectares.
According to Burkina Information Agency, from early morning, cultural, artistic, and tourism communities joined Minister Ou©draogo to plant trees as part of the "Patriotic Hour to Green Faso" initiative, launched by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. The initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and greening efforts across Burkina Faso.
Minister Ou©draogo highlighted the diversity of trees planted, which included fruit trees, medicinal plants, and species suitable for producing musical instruments like balafons and guitars. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the growth and development of these seedlings, aligning with the Popular Progressive Revolution promoted by the Head of State, and stressed that the planting efforts were intended to make a tangible impact beyond mere appearances.
To maintain the health of the newly planted grove, Minister Ou©draogo assured that ministry teams would conduct regular visits. Future plans include constructing a boundary wall and installing a borehole to secure the area and provide a consistent water supply for irrigation.
The reforestation event attracted a wide array of participants, including artists, journalists, communicators, media managers, festival promoters, directors, hoteliers, restaurateurs, and social partners. J©r©mie Si© Coulibaly, coordinator of the Burkina Information Service, participated in the activity, citing tree planting as an effective method for carbon elimination. T©lesphore Bationo, the Confederal President of Culture, praised the artist community's involvement and encouraged continued support for the presidential initiative "Faso Mªbo."
