Namentenga: Nearly eighty people were arrested on Friday, May 2, 2025, by the central police commissioner of the city of Boulsa and the said city was cleared for excessive traffic. Police Chief Commissioner Boukaré Bonkoungou and his officers arrested nearly 80 people for speeding in Boulsa on Friday, May 2, 2025.According to Burkina Information Agency, these speed offenders were tasked with cleaning the main arteries of Boulsa, the capital of Namentenga province in the Centre-North region. Commissioner Bonkoungou highlighted that the maximum speed limit in built-up areas is 50 km/h, a regulation often ignored by road users, particularly young gold miners.The police crackdown aligns with directives to reduce road accidents and fatalities in the area. The offenders, some caught driving over 70 km/h and others using phones while driving, were educated on the repercussions of their actions before starting the clean-up.During discussions, the offenders admitted their violations and committed to performing t heir assigned duties responsibly. Commissioner Bonkoungou emphasized the need for continued efforts to ensure road users understand and follow traffic rules. He also urged driving schools to collaborate with the community and municipal authorities to improve road signage in Boulsa.
