Ouahigouya: The New Dawn University (U-AUBEN) emerged victorious in the men's basketball category, clinching the trophy at the School and University Sports Union (USSU-BF) competitions held in Ouahigouya. The team defeated L©dea Bernard Ou©draogo University (ULBO) with a score of 59 to 31 in the final matchup, as noted by AIB at the event's conclusion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the contest between U-AUBEN and ULBO was the highlight of the team sports finals. U-AUBEN dominated the match from the outset, leading 39 to 08 by halftime. Despite a spirited comeback attempt by ULBO in the second half, scoring 23 points to U-AUBEN's 20, the latter secured the win with a final score of 59-31.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Colette Ou©draogo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment (MSJE), and attended by local authorities, including Thomas Yampa, Governor of the Yaadga region, as well as sports supervisors and other notable sports figures.
The competitions took place at the regional sports and leisure department's multi-sport venue in Ouahigouya, marking the end of the USSU-BF finals for the 2025 season. The event saw the participation of 400 athletes from 54 universities and colleges across Burkina Faso, competing in various sports disciplines over two days.
During the ceremony, Colette Ou©draogo, representing Minister Roland Somda, expressed gratitude to the Yaadga regional authorities for their support in the event's success. She also acknowledged the efforts of various ministerial departments and Ambassador for Sport Charles Kabor© in organizing the final stages of the USSU-BF.
In her address, Ms. Ou©draogo highlighted the role of the authorities' vision in making the USSU-BF season possible, allowing young talents to showcase their abilities in sports. She encouraged the student athletes to continue excelling in their academic and sporting endeavors to contribute to the development of the Burkinabe nation.
