NGO Action éducation Celebrates World Children’s Day in Sissili on a Delayed Basis.
Sissili: The NGO Action éducation, through its project "Investing in early childhood education and protection (IEPPE), in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of Education, celebrated World Children's Day on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Leo, under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the province of Sissili, Tewindé Isaac Sia. According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration took place under the theme "protecting children's rights: a commitment of all for a better future." It is typically celebrated on November 20 each year to promote and defend children's rights worldwide. Soungalo Traoré, the provincial director in charge of primary preschool education, expressed gratitude to the NGO Aide et Action, through its IEPPE project, for choosing Sissili for this celebration. Traoré highlighted the low preschool enrollment rate in Sissili, attributing it to the community's lack of recognition of the importance of Preschool Education and Awareness Centers (CEEP) for child development. He e mphasized that young children's participation in preschool learning enables parents to engage in income-generating activities freely. He noted that the IEPPE project's support for the CEEP of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Léo would ease preschool-to-primary transition, improving access and retention rates in primary education. Traoré assured NGO Action éducation and partners of the commitment to the project's success in Léo. Florence Fanjarinoro, coordinator of the IEPPE project, highlighted that the day serves as a platform for reflecting on collective responsibilities and guaranteeing children's fundamental rights. High Commissioner Tewindé Isaac Sia urged stakeholders to ensure every child's safety and development, thanking NGO Action éducation for its efforts. The IEPPE project provided school supplies to three CEEPs, along with globes and geographical maps to five primary schools in Léo. The event coincided with International Mother Language Day, featuring colorful displays at the CEBNF in Léo , attended by local authorities and education stakeholders.
