Niamey: The Niger Artificial Intelligence and Geospatial Technologies Week (SIATEG) commenced this Wednesday in Niamey, spearheaded by the National Agency for the Information Society (ANSI) in collaboration with GeoMinds Africa. The event is being held at the Palais des Congrès and is themed 'Artificial Intelligence and Geospatial Technologies: Catalysts for Progress and Sustainability for African Countries'.According to Burkina Information Agency, SIATEG seeks to explore the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and address the challenges associated with these technologies. The Nigerien Minister of Communication, Posts and Digital Economy, Sidi Mohamed Raliou, emphasized the dual nature of the event as both a celebration of technological advancements and a platform for collective reflection on their developmental roles in Niger.Minister Raliou highlighted Niger's continuous efforts over the years to integrate new technologies across various sectors of its national economy. He pointed out tha t artificial intelligence and geospatial technologies are pivotal, offering innovative solutions for natural resource management and territorial planning.Raliou expressed confidence in the transformative potential of these technologies for sustainable progress in Niger. He urged the youth and private sector to collaborate with public institutions to maximize the benefits of AI and geospatial technologies.Ali Salatou Adji, Director General of ANSI, noted that the theme aligns with ANSI's priorities to modernize administration and stimulate national innovation, positioning Niger to tackle global challenges with its skilled workforce.
