Sebba: The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), through its "ICLA" (Information, Advice, Legal Assistance) department, has launched an initiative to issue Burkinabe National Identity Cards (CNIB) for the residents of Sebba from June 12 to 19, 2025. This effort is aimed at assisting the local population, as noted by the Burkina Information Agency.
According to Burkina Information Agency, "I was able to register for the CNIB operation. The announcement was made a few days ago, and I prepared to be among the first. We had been waiting for this mission for a long time because I lost my papers during the last attack on the city of Sebba. The criminals burned down the house containing everything we had. I thank NRC, through ICLA, for thinking of the population of Sebba, who are currently vulnerable. They gave us numbers we can call to thank the donors. I promise to call them to thank them for this gesture."
According to Bali Bako, second vice-president of the Sebba municipality, the NRC, through ICLA, has come to the aid of the people of Sebba, who have been waiting for such opportunities for a very long time. Since the police left and the blockade of the town, many people have seen their CNIB expire and are unable to do anything.
He further explained that some people lost a lot of material during the latest attack, including CNIBs and other documents. "I take this opportunity to express, on behalf of the entire Sebba special delegation, a big thank you to NRC and to all those near and far who provided support to this vulnerable population."
Adama Barry, head of the delegation, stated, "we came to Sebba to assist the population through an operation to establish CNIBs. NRC for this operation is in partnership with the National Identification Office (ONI) of Kaya. At the local level, we are assisted by the Center for Good Local Governance (CGS). We ask the population to come out en masse to take advantage of this mission. We have to establish at least 3,000 CNIBs. I thank the authorities for facilitating the work since our arrival."
